'Dakota' Fried Green Tomatoes

The tomatoes have a crispy outer layer, tasty center with a 'remind me of grandma's cookin' gravy!

COOK TIME: 3-5 min.
INGREDIENTS

Vegetable oil for frying

3 Large green tomatoes

1 1/2 c Flour

1/2 c Whipping cream

1/2 T Flour

1/2 T Butter, melted

1/4 t Salt

1/8 t Pepper

DIRECTIONS
  1. Pour oil into fry pan until 1/2" thick.  Heat over medium-high heat.
  2. Slice tomatoes 1/4" thick.  Generously salt and pepper both sides of each slice.  Dip slices into flour until well covered.
  3. Deep fry slices in hot oil (3-5 min.) until golden brown.  Remove and drain on brown paper.  Pour remaining oil from pan.  Add cream to the pan plus 1/2 T flour, cook over low heat to thicken.  Turn off heat.  Stir in butter, salt, pepper and blend well.  Plate tomatoes and pour gravy over.  Serve immediately.
