French Potatoes
Delicious and absolutely decadent... Viva La Potato!!

PREP TIME:  30 min.

COOK TIME: 40 min.

1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
1 T butter
2 1/4 lb. potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1/2 c light cream
salt and pepper
6 oz. grated Comte (cheese)
3 T butter cut into small bits
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Rub the bottom and sides of a heavy baking dish with crushed garlic cloves.
  3. Grease side and bottom liberally with butter. Arrange 1/2 the potato slices in the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle 1/2 of the cheese and butter bits over potatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Repeat with a second layer, ending with the cheese and butter on top.
  5. Pour the cream into the side of the dish around the potatoes.
  6. Bake in the oven for 30-40 min. or until potatoes are tender and the top nicely browned.
