Garlic Cheese Grits

Nothing is more Southern than grits... Try these with cheese and garlic!
PREP TIME: 55 minutes
1 cup uncooked quick grits
5 ounces butter
12 ounces shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 large egg
1 tablespoon finely minced garlic
3/4 cup milk
dash hot sauce
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Cook grits in boiling salted water, until thick (follow package directions). Remove from heat.
Stir in butter and half of the cheese.
 Beat egg with minced garlic, milk and hot sauce. Stir into grits.
Pour into buttered 2-quart casserole or individual ramekins. Top with remaining cheese. Bake 45 minutes to 1 hour (or until knife inserted in center comes out clean).
