Caramelized Chili Shrimp

These sweet, spicy shrimp were a big hit when we served them recently.  No one could believe how easy they were to prepare!
PREP TIME: 5 minutes
COOK TIME: 9 minutes

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 TBSP all purpose flour

1 tsp sea salt

1 tsp chili powder

1/8 to 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (to taste)

1 tsp granulated garlic

1 lb raw shrimp (31 to 40 count) peeled with tails left on.


Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.  Cover baking sheet (with sides) with foil and spray with cooking oil spray.

Place all ingredients in a 1 gallon zip lock and seal.  Work bag with hands until shrimp are fully coated.  Pour contents of the zip lock onto prepared baking sheet- making sure that the shrimp are in a single layer- not touching.  Bake for 7 to 9 minutes until shrimp are caramelized.  Transfer to serving plate with spatula and serve.
